What type of startups are we looking for?

  • Focus: Startups that are addressing problems and help create cities for the future.

  • Application: The solution creates, supports or scales the sustainable growth of smart cities in ASEAN member states enabling them to be more resilient, connected and resourceful. We are looking for next generation solutions that can be scaled across growing cities that:

    • Improve access to safe and affordable housing, public spaces, infrastructure and transport

    • Consider environmental impact and/or are designed to enable a more effective use of resources

    • Enable resources and services in cities to be accessible to all

  • Concept: The concept is scalable and unique. There is an obvious route to success.  There is a product with users and/or traction.

  • Team: The team has the right skill-sets needed to execute on the business model.

  • Coachability: The founders are “coachable” and will make the most of the EiR, mentors and Accelerating Asia network partners.

  • Diversity: The cohort founders have a wide range of backgrounds, including gender, country of origin, religion, etc.

  • Cohort Fit: The founders fit in well with the cohort – our alumni startups believe the “cohort effect” is one of the most valuable aspects of the program.

  • Impact: The team is likely to make a positive short or long term social impact.

    • Stage: Pre-seed or seed. Startups should already have a product and users.

    • Location: Startups from ASEAN member states including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos or that have solutions applicable to these markets.
